I don’t know about you but I start struggling in February. I am a summer girl at heart and I love hot weather so it is around February that the weight of winter bears down and I am really feeling rather care worn. Sometimes we know we need self care but we aren’t sure what form it should take. I am sleeping well, eating well, walking, writing, meditating and doing all the things I know make me feel my best but something is missing. Do I need a massage, a supplement, a colonic, a hug, to volunteer? It’s when we need a little nudge that Tarot can swoop in and give us light on what we really need to gift ourselves with right now. So I asked my deck the question, “How do I combat the winter blues right now?” I drew one card, the 6 of Cups. theneotraditionist.com The 6 of Cups is a card of joy, nostalgia and childhood. Many traditional forms of this card depict white flowers and two children in what look to be near a busy medieval town center. Inspired I ran out to the store and bought bunches of beautiful yellow daffodils for my house and bought rather frivolously a mango because I love them but they always make me think of fun memories of warmth, easy living and luscious drinks. Childhood also is a prominent feature in this card so to me it was a clear call to be child-like. I love board games so I asked my husband to play a round or two of some games that were gathering dust in our cupboard. These few simple and easy things DID make a difference, especially the flowers. Sometimes self care can be a simple small thing that really brightens up one’s day. What did cards did you pull for yourself around your own self care and what are you doing about it?
