Youtube has become an interesting ‘How To’ encyclopedia filled with others lovingly sharing their knowledge for free and I use Youtube for many of my ‘how to’ needs but my favorite is to use Youtube for guided meditation sessions. There are hundreds of sessions from 5 to 30 (or more) minutes, male and female vocals, light music or none, chakra work, anxiety work, positivity work: Youtube has meditations to address every need desire, issue or challenge. Meditation can be so useful but often we do not practice because sitting for traditional meditation can be stressful. Traditional meditation methods often assume that an empty mind is the goal and if we cannot empty our minds we stress out, defeating the purpose of meditation!
Guided meditations is a happy medium for those who want to enjoy the benefits of meditation but currently are not at the level for a traditional meditative practice. Guided meditations can be helpful with anxiety and stress reduction, relaxation, and fostering a greater sense of well-being. Guided meditations can be done at home, during one’s lunch break, or basically anywhere: even on your phone as you are riding the bus into work; slip in your earbuds and quietly sit. A daily 15 minute guided meditation practice can work wonders on a variety of issues. Below are a list of some of my personal favorites, I hope they work for you, too. Guided Mindfulness Meditation On Overcoming Anxiety and Fear- This 14 minute guided meditation has a very calming male voice and great visuals, too, if you need to keep your eyes open to stay focused. Guided Mindfulness Meditation on Joy - The same soothing voice as the video above, this is also a very nice meditation on seeing profound joy, 15 minutes. Let Go of Anxiety: A Guided Meditation for Anxiety Relief - Great background music and a nice calming voice, 17 minutes with great visual effects, too. Tibetan Healing Sounds - Ok, not a guided meditation but holy Enlightenment, Batman!, 11 hours of Tibetan bowls and light meditative sounds, I think I could just have this running in the back ground in my car, at work, calming the atmosphere all day long. Guided Meditation for Deep Relaxation - This 20 minute guided meditation has really nice visuals, music and voice. The guided meditation imagines you back to ancient Egypt, an interesting take on the normal guided meditation process. Feeling Into Your Heart Guided Meditation - A super compact under 5 minute meditation, female voiced, she calmly brings your awareness back to your body and your energy state of being. A nice quick meditation if you absolutely cannot spare another minute. This is also good for doing once every few hours during your work day. Once you start poking around, you will, no doubt, find the right combination of Youtube videos that speak to you the most.
