I get this question a lot, especially from clients who wish to have a reading but due to distance or time conflicts are unable to make it in-person. Logic would dictate that an in person reading should work better, that the distance might make a difference in accuracy and if the reading is done over the phone or via the internet it might not be as good as in person. The short answer based on all of my readings, is largely, no. There is no difference in accuracy of a reading in person, via phone or online. Since intuition exists outside of space/time it does not matter if a person is across the table or the screen. The tarot is not dependent on proximity either but is very dependent on the interpersonal connection, i.e. that I as the reader and the other person who I am reading for plug in and are contributing to the extrasensory/ extratemporal session we are engaged in together. When a connection is made I get a feel of who people are personality-wise and sometimes I get a strong sense of an important person in their life either living or passed on or a sense of body pains or issues. While I do not officially label myself a medical intuitive at this point, I do have an affinity for the body and I know that when I am feeling a pain that is not mine or I get a scene in my mind that speaks to a health related issue; it is a key sign that I have made a connection with the person I am reading for. Once I know I have made a connection, then I “open up” my intuitive sense for other impressions, images, words or feelings that I then use the Tarot to confirm. This connection is not dependent on location or time which is why sometimes I cannot tell if an impression is about something that has occurred or will occur which is why the timing of an impression is the hardest thing to nail down. So, while making a connection is paramount, it does not always happen. With some people I just cannot find the socket to plug into. There are varied reasons why this is and over time I have come to understand that those who are closed to getting a reading, who feel they do not work, who do not take it seriously, who dislike me or the process all get in the way of making a connection. When I get a skeptic whose agenda is to prove me wrong then it is like hitting a brick wall, I get anxious and once that happens my intuition shuts down. When I get a skeptic who is still open minded that is not a problem, in fact I love reading for people who are unsure but open minded about having a new experience. Sometimes the connection just isn’t there and it is because of a mismatch of energy or expectations and that is ok. I liken it to a hairdresser, you need to find your stylist and it doesn’t necessarily mean the other stylists were bad, they just weren’t a fit. So how can a readee help facilitate a great connection?
Being open minded about the process, trusting the message and the person delivering it knowing that the intention is for the greatest good is a great start. Having no attachment to outcomes are all good ways to clear the ego out of the way so we can really get into the reading are all helpful. If a readee comes in about a question and she absolutely just wants to hear what she wants to hear then that sullies the connection, as well. Focus, grounding and centering are extremely important to facilitating a connection which is why I often take a client through a brief visualization exercise; it tends to help open up the energy between us and makes it easier “take a look”. I also like to breathe in tandem with the person I am reading, it an easy and effective centering activity that really allows us to share the “space” on multiple levels. All of these techniques can be done in person on the phone or via the internet. While I love in person readings because I like sharing hot tea and hugs, the in-person process benefits the readee for reasons outside of an intuitive session. Being in-person helps the readee to see the cards better, to understand why I am saying what I am saying and to see the process which is not always clear via phone or internet and for those who like to know the how behind the why this is helpful. Also, an in-person reading guarantees that we will have the full time together without interruption which is not always possible if someone is at home or at work, people burst in, kids cry and the time gets disruptive which makes it quite a challenge to remain connected. So while the in-person readings are superior in terms of holding sacred space and the benefit of seeing the structure of the reading and the cards better, it in fact does not change the intuitive quality or accuracy of the reading if a good connection is made.
